C fragment of lipotropin has a high affinity for brain opiate receptors

Abstract

THE C-terminal region of lipotropin, named C fragment1, has been found as an intact polypeptide in the pituitary gland2 and the C fragment is also released from lipotropin by mild digestion with trypsin in vitro1. These data suggest that the C fragment of lipotropin might be elaborated in vivo in order to perform a physiological function.
