Highlights
► We examined the neural substrates of languages control compared with task control. ► Prefrontal, parietal, cingulate cortices and caudate nucleus were identified. ► The right prefrontal cortex was most specifically involved in language control. ► Activity in the rt. prefrontal cortex was correlated with 2nd language proficiency.
