2022, NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :So far, past EEG studies of resting state functional connectivity have examined age differences mostly in sensor space (i.e., data at the level of the scalp electrode sensors, where each signal maps onto the spatial location of one of these electrodes) and have yielded mixed findings (Smit et al., 2012; Vysata et al., 2014; Scally et al., 2018; Moezzi et al., 2019). Weaker functional connectivity between electrode pairs have been reported in older age for theta, alpha, and beta bands using coherence (Kikuchi et al., 2000; Duffy et al., n.d.) and synchronization likelihood measures (Smit et al., 2012). Moezzi et al. (2019) examined the imaginary coherence between younger and older adults in both eyes-open and -closed resting state conditions.
Sleep EEG functional connectivity varies with age and sex, but not general intelligence
